Dear Mom and Dad

My sister and her husband disowned me a few years ago for being a heretic. My other sister and brother, even if we don’t share all of the same views, have chosen to stay in relationship with me. In fact, we all just spent 60+ hours together (all 16 of us counting spouses/kids) a couple weeks ago and had a wonderful time.

My parents have very different beliefs from me (I changed mine; theirs stayed the same), but we’ve chosen to still be in relationship too. We do have an informal pact that we don’t discuss politics anymore.

But… after some deliberate thought, I broke that pact this weekend and sent them this email:
