Don’t want to read the whole thing?
Short version: I’m trying to get my friends to download my brother’s latest podcast episode. If it breaks his previous record for an episode (1302), HE’LL INTERVIEW ME ON HIS BIBLE PODCAST.
Download on Apple. Or Spotify. OR BOTH. (I think that counts as two!!) Thank you!!
Longer version: I’m the oldest of four siblings. My brother Josh is next, then our two younger sisters, one of whom disowned me in 2018 for being a heretic.
For the past 20 years, Josh has been a pastor. For several years, he’s had a podcast called Unbinding the Bible. I’ve been teasing him about having me on to talk about my books, but I never pushed it because I write books with things like “unbelieve” and “heretic” in the title which might be a bit awkward for a pastor.
HOWEVER. Josh just released episode #194 after a long hiatus because HE STOPPED BEING A PASTOR. And I absolutely and fully support his decision and I’m so proud of him for taking a stand.
And this new path on his podcasting/life journey JUST SO HAPPENS to coincide with my quest to do 50 podcast interviews in 2025 on my way to turning 50 on Halloween. (I’ve done 26—a wee bit behind schedule.)
So I made him a bet.
Episode 001 has 1302 downloads, the most of any episode. If we can get episode #194 to 1303 downloads by Josh’s birthday (September 20), HE WILL HAVE ME ON HIS PODCAST.
When I asked him last night if he’d be willing to take me up on it, he was at 133 downloads. I posted it on IG and FB, a bunch of y’all stepped up BECAUSE YOU’RE AWESOME, and as of 9:00pm on Wednesday, we’re at 215.
I know 1303 is a looooong way away, but I believe in us. (I also have some bribes ready to roll out, so be watching IG, FB, Threads, and Substack.)
Do me a solid and download the episode (maybe even twice?) and share with a friend or six. LET’S DO THIS!!
Inquiring mind (mine) wants to know: What question should Josh ask me on the show?

Hope you reach the target, friend, but I think he should have you on the podcast anyway!
Listened. WOW. It was really great. And expressed so much that I totally understand from a very personal perspective. I was a bit reluctant to even listen but I'm glad I did. Your brother is very brave and on an incredible journey. I hope he writes his book!
