poor guy

my three daughters + 
my son-in-law pose in

pink outfits in front of 
a pink flowering tree 

before the Barbie movie 
and a dude comments 

“poor guy” / “why’s that?” 
I ask (biting tongue) 

“he’s a good sport, 
you wouldn’t catch me 

dead going to a movie 
called Barbie,” he says

“hmmm, your loss,” I say, 
“the movie is very much 

about helping men see 
how the patriarchy 

hurts y’all just like 
it hurts us, 

may I gently suggest 
that you go see it?”

“nah, not my cup of tea,” 
he says, “my wife would 

hate it too, we don’t 
like the genre, don’t 

know much about it, 
haven’t seen the trailer, 

I’m more of an art film guy
#GirlPower”

so did he completely 
miss the point, or did 

he unwittingly help me 
prove mine? or both? 

either way, poor guy 
(or should I say #PoorGuy)
