unbelieve if becoming a heretic is what I have to do to love people fully and completely it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make * This poem titled "unbelieve" is from my book titled unbelieve: poems on the journey to becoming a heretic. I have 8 copies of the book with covers that are a little messed up (wrong shade of purple, off center, etc.) but the effort of returning them to get my money back was just too much. If you want one for the cost of shipping ($5), let me know. (The handsome gentleman in the photo is my 86-year-old great-uncle Grayson who, unlike most of my huge extended family, is cool with me being a heretic.)
Being able to love people fully and completely is my very favorite part of leaving evangelical Christianity. What's yours?
My favorite thing is - sleeping in on Sundays, creating my own rituals that are deeply meaningful to me and my kids, exploring & learning from other wisdom texts without guilt or fear, YOGA! TAROT! listening to my body without doubt or fear of “being deceived”, reading black & womanist theology! gin & tonics, sex positivity, gentle parenting, joy without feeling it’s “more than I deserve”, finding my voice, autonomy! ❤️✨
I love this poem, and I'd love to have a copy of your book if there are any remaining. Also, love that you have a relative that is okay with you being a heretic. That is so sweet, and it made my day. :)
