Hi. I wasn’t going to do a year-end reflection post because I honestly couldn’t remember what even happened this year. Then, with my little journal open on my lap this morning, I started laughing. What little journal, you ask? Oh, just the little journal I bought at the end of 2022 and wrote 5 things I’m grateful for EVERY SINGLE DAY of 2023. (it is very typical of me to forget about something I do on a daily basis) I read back through it this morning, and very (very) randomly picked out some highlights to share:
Also memory challenged!🙋♀️Starting this habit for 2024. Marla, thank you for sharing all your highlights and lowlights throughout the year. You've helped me process so much this year. I'm thankful for you. Keep cutting it up (& piecing it back together) in 2024. 💗
oh-it connects to your social media and photos, and shows you what happened on that day in the past. sadly doesn't work with twitter anymore. i suppose i should say "all" documented memories, not just fond ones :)
Here’s a funny one I’m thankful for. All summer I tried to grow pumpkins from some random sprouts in the yard, gifted (I assume) by the local birds. We had a BRUTAL summer in Texas this year. No pumpkins. Barely kept the vines alive. Fall has been fantastic, and I have these cute little pumpkins that are doomed to a quick death as winter attacks, but I’m so enjoying them.
that's an amazing list! in what my friend and fellow enneagram 4 has dubbed our most on-brand activity, i read through my journal from that year on Dec 31, and also my day planner, to remember what i did, who i was with, and what books/music i loved. (your books are two of those!!). here's to a kickass 2024 ♥️
This gave me life! I am going to watch the Toni Morrison documentary tonight.
Yay!! I’m going to re-rewatch it soon.

Thank you, Beck! And wait until you see the subtitle of my next book. 💗😳
Haha love the admission of not remembering. Sometimes I go back through my iPhone camera roll for this same reason.
Timehop is my favorite app for this reason - reminder of fond memories.
Never used this before. What does it do?

I think I'll do that too!
Love this list ❤️✨ and you’re inspiring me to start a journal like this!

Let’s see if I can share my Doomed Pumkins album
I suppose I should also mention we have some wild rabbits and/or hares that snack on the vines.
