Do not obey in advance.
I believe this is a line from Timothy Snyder’s book, On Tyranny, which is #7 on Amazon right now even though it was published eight years ago in response to this idiot:

I just reserved the book at the library and also recommend this video by Ezra Klein. He says Trump doesn’t want to be President; he wants to be King. And he’s trying to convince us there’s nothing we can to do to stop him.
Klein’s advice: Don’t believe him.
“The projection of strength obscures the reality of weakness,” he says.
Besides being a racist rapist narcissist felon, Trump is a weakling. He’s fragile. He’s a loser. He’s an idiot. He’s a clown. He’s a tiny little man.
He’s a piece of shit.
Trump, Musk, Vance, and their little Gen Z tech bros aren’t going to win. There are more of us, and we’re stronger together.
If you’re feeling sad, anxious, scared, frustrated, angry, overwhelmed, I’m with you.
Absolutely feel your feelings, but try not to spiral. Take deep breaths and try not to panic or give in to overwhelm.
Take a walk. Pet your cat. Listen to music. Take lots more deep breaths. Follow Jasmine Crockett and AOC.
Making art also helps. The word “fuck” is especially cathartic.

Hang in there, friends. I love you. We’ll be okay.
Let me know how you’re feeling in the comments.
p.s. A quick note to my paid subscribers: I’ll have a special post for you tomorrow. Mwah!
p.p.s. If any of y’all have an extra $5/month and want to support a single mom/writer/artist, I would loooooove for you to become a paid subscriber.
I realised that in trying to stave off despair I wasn't letting myself grieve. I'm learning grief is an act of resistance, it's disruptive and allows us to acknowledge the wound. Only once we feel our grief, our collective pain can we start to move in the direction of fighting together for a better world and for healing. I'm definitely going to make some at with the work "fuck" though. That does sound cathartic.
When feeling angry and despairing, that Ezra Klein podcast was SO helpful. I also want to listen to the full Timothy Snyder videos about tyranny!
One day at a time. Encouraging to see the resistance showing up!
